Expertise in the service of durability

When planning and implementing software, we follow an unerring compass – our system of values internalised by every eMundo employee. The principles of sustainability form the core of this system. This is because good software, as we understand it, must first meet the project aims and secondly factor in all aspects required for long-term maintenance and development.

Data migration

When deploying new systems, there are often one or even several legacy systems present, which have data that needs to be transferred across to the new structures. We have many years of experience in successfully transferring migration-relevant data from a variety of legacy systems. We carry out the transfer in three stages:

Analysis of the legacy data.

Analysis represents the most significant part of the effort. If we identify in time which requirements regarding the legacy data are required for the quality, completeness and consistency of the data, we can then develop the appropriate strategies for preparing, merging and integrating the legacy data. Our experts have developed a tried-and-tested procedure based on course-grained and fine-grained data analysis.

Selection of the migration-relevant data and archiving.

The selection of the operational data actually needed in the new system is the key factor for a successful migration. We know from experience that only a small portion of the data transferred into the new system is actually used. To make the decision process easier for our clients, we develop a strategy at an early stage as to how all the data can be available after the initial introduction of the new system, for example, by providing an archive system that enables read access to the entire legacy data.

Measurability of the migration success.

The progress of the migration is made visible in every pass by detailed logging. This shows how much data has been successfully transferred into the new structures and how much could not be entered.
